Slow-Cooker Turkey Breast
Set it in the morning and forget it: the slow cooker keeps a breast juicy for hours, and a quick broil at the end crisps the skin.
Ingredients
- 1 bone-in turkey breast (3–4 lb)
- 2 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried sage
- 1 tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- ½ cup chicken stock
- 1 onion, sliced
Steps
- Mix salt, pepper, garlic powder, sage and paprika; rub over the breast with the melted butter.
- Scatter the onion in the slow cooker, pour in the stock and set the breast on top.
- Cook on LOW 6–7 hours or HIGH 3–4 hours, until the thickest part reads 165°F.
- Optional but worth it: broil skin-side up 3–5 minutes until crisp, watching closely.
- Rest 15 minutes, then slice.
Serve with: stuffing, mashed sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce.
Do not cook a whole turkey in a slow cooker — a breast is the safe size. Keep the lid closed: each lift adds 20–30 minutes.
